Getting to Customers "Where They Live"
We know the expression, "Wow, that's hitting me where I live," meaning, where someone feels deeply.
It occurred to me, especially during these 'challenging economic times," that people are feeling very deeply these days about issues of home, neighborhood, and community. Too many people have lost their homes or had to move. Those of us who are lucky enough to have a home, feel more connected than ever to our community and sense of place.
Now think about the kinds of businesses we interact with on a deep emotional level -- banks, credit unions, financial advisers, attorneys -- we turn to them when we need help. It's very personal. And we need professionals we can really, really trust.
What if these "high trust sales" professionals got behind supporting local history and preservation efforts? What if by reaching people "where they live" emotionally because of the nature of their business they ALSO helped to preserve where people live physically?
I can see huge payoffs -- oh, wait, I already have!
